The Oregon Death with Dignity Act allows doctors, under certain conditions, to prescribe lethal doses of medication to terminally ill patients near the time they are expected to die. The Bush administration has attempted to reverse this law by making such prescriptions illegal. Federal courts have upheld the Oregon law. The case will be heard before the U.S. Supreme Court. 10-05
